Writers Centre Open
Afternoon
Sunday 24 March 2013, 1pm - 4pm |
Meet some great writers at the Michael King Writers’ Centre
open afternoon this weekend.
Bring your friends and family and celebrate NZ Book Month with
a visit to the Michael King Writers’ Centre and hear some of Devonport’s
local poets and writers read. Writers will include our current writer in
residence Deborah Shepard, visiting writer Scott Bainbridge (who writes about
NZ criminal cold cases), poet Sonja Yelich and novelist Tessa Duder.
The centre will be open from 1 pm to 4 pm and the readings
will be from 2 pm, followed by tea and coffee.
Look around the historic Signalman’s House, enjoy the garden
and the views, and look through the collection of literary and historical
memorabilia.
The open day is hosted by the Devonport Friends of the Michael King Writers’ Centre. This is a free event and all are welcome. The centre is half way up the road to the summit of Mt Victoria in Devonport. Here’s a map. http://www.writerscentre.org.nz/contact_us.php
Park on top of Mt Victoria or on nearby Kerr Street. There is
limited parking on the summit road.
