Writers, visual artists,
theatre folk, film directors & editors, met with Jacinda Adern MP, Shadow
Minister of Arts and Culture at the Creative Hub waterfront creative writing
centre recently, to bend her ear on the issues facing the nation's artists.
Chief amongst them was the enormous effect on artists' copyright of the new
digital environment.
Head of the Society of Authors, Jackie Dennis said the
meeting was a success and that she was delighted to see several points she had
raised included in the recently released Labour Party policy on the arts.
Director of the Creative Hub, John Cranna, said the creation of an informal
lobby group across different arts disciplines was a powerful way to give the
arts a more authoritative voice.
