iPads are great, but one way they come up short is typing. Touchscreens aren’t really intended to be typed on. Even though the hardcore use them that way everyday, some of us can remember the day when you typed on a typewriter, not a newfangled computer. And with us geezers in mind, I’d like to show you a new design by Austin Yang.
You’re looking at a prototype mechanical typewriter accessory for the iPad. Note that it doesn’t work via Bluetooth and in fact it doesn’t even have a battery. It’s an actual mechanical typewriter. Press one of the keys and the typewriter will hit a key on the onscreen keyboard on the iPad.
There’s no plans yet to produce one you could buy, but I just love the idea itself. I’ve heard of old-school, but this takes it to a new level.

We have the Apple wireless keyboards, which are a brilliant product. I touch type, and that accessory is as easy as using any other keyboard, and far better than a laptop keyboard.
