St. Martin's Press announced it acquired Sara Fawkes' self-published serialized erotic story Anything He Wants for a print and ebook deal.
In the wake of Fifty Shades of Grey's phenomenal journey from self-published fan fiction to a twenty-million copy selling hit, major publishers --and film studios--have eagerly snapped up self-published erotica and romance hits.
Anything He Wants is an erotic thriller about a female temp who gets caught up in a torrid romance with the male CEO and drawn into a game of corporate espionage.
On her website, Fawkes describes herself as a "California girl" who has "seen the world thanks to the military," a lover of hard liquor and motorcycles and a writer of stories about "alpha men and the women they adore."
She self-published the first four installments of the story as ebooks, ranging in length from 28-52 pages. The initial installment was priced at .99¢ and the next three for $2.99.
The books have appeared on USA Today's top-150 bestselling books list (Aug. 5 and July 28, topping out at no. 85 and on Amazon's list of top-100 selling ebooks. The first installment is currently no. 3 on Amazon's fiction erotica list and no. 37 on its romanace list.
St. Martin's will publish the fifth and final installment as an ebook in September with a print book to follow.
