At St. Martin's Press, Dori Weintraub has returned full time
to the publicity department as vp, publicity, with an enhanced and expanded
role working on a wide array of fiction and nonfiction across all teams.
Weintraub, most recently vp, marketing, communications & audience
development, will report to Tracy Guest, who said in a statement:
"Everyone who has worked with Dori Weintraub in the past fourteen years
can attest to the passion, fierce intelligence and dedication which she brings
to her work. She's recognized by national media and reviewers as a force in the
industry. Since media coverage is critical to growing our authors and selling
their books, having Dori concentrate 100 percent on publicity is the best way
to take advantage of her considerable skills and relationships."

The NEA announced its Literature Translation Fellows, including Jeffrey Yang (for his translation of poet Bei Dao's biography) and Niloufar Talebi (for his translation of Ahmad Shamlou's poetry, prose, and interviews) among the 20 translators awarded yearlong stipends.
The NYT profiles Sandy Hall and her forthcoming novel A LITTLE SOMETHING DIFFERENT, the launch title from Macmillan's crowdsourced YA imprint Swoon Reads. Macmillan plans a "hefty" official print run of 100,000 copies in the US when Hall's book is published on August 26; the imprint plans to publish 6 titles of the 237 manuscripts posted on Swoon Reads' website.
On Tuesday morning Amazon's ReadersUnited website, which posted the full text of a widely shared, widely criticized email sent to KDP authors over the weekend, went offline, replaced by the text "this is a website." A spokesperson for the company told us the site's temporary disappearance was a "technical glitch" and would be "up again soon". Five minutes after that email, the site went back online.
