The Chartered Institute of Librarians and Information Professionals may not sound an especially powerful body but the annual CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals are perhaps the most coveted awards in children's fiction and illustration respectively.This year, for the first time, longlists have been announced for both awards – 20 books on each – for honours that are announced in the same week as National Libraries Day in June. The shortlists will be revealed on March 18.
