Phaidon Hires Greenhill In Search For Buyer

Phaidon Press, the privately owned art and cookery book publisher behind titles including Ernst Gombrich's The Story of Art and The Silver Spoon, has hired investment bank Greenhill to find a buyer. Richard Schlagman, who bought Phaidon from receivership in 1990 after seeing it advertised in the Financial Times, said that he had decided that it was time for another owner to lead its transition from a largely print business to the digital era of iPads, Kindles and other ereading devices.
