Publishers Lunch


Megan Harley has been named marketing manager at Algonquin Children's. Sarah Alpert has been promoted to associate editor, now acquiring middle-grade and young adult fiction and non-fiction and graphic novels.

At Chronicle Books, Allison Weiner has been promoted to design manager, art; Lisa Bach to director of special sales. Vanessa Navarrete to sales manager, independent specialty; Emily Malter to sales coordinator, independent specialty; and Neil Egan to design manager, entertainment.

Awards
The London Book Fair will present their Lifetime Achievement Award to Dorotea Bromberg of Sweden's Brombergs, which she co-founded alongside her father Adam in 1975.


Bookselling

Inkwood Books in Tampa, FL will close on March 31. Stefani Beddingfield, who has owned the bookstore since 2013, said she hoped the opening of restaurants and businesses in the area would help, but the store never drew foot traffic. "I think the location could be great, but it's not there yet, and I just ran out of the finances to hang on," she said.

Smyrna, DE's Acorn Books is
closing after seven years of operation. Co-owner Ginny Jewell said, "We have a great group of people who routinely shop here, it’s just that it’s not a big enough market."
