Project VOICE is
proud to present two world-renowned spoken word poets: Sarah Kay and Phil
Kaye. The duo are champions of vulnerability, cheerleaders for the
unexpected, and ruthless flashlights for all your heart's nooks and crannies.
Through their live performances and hands-on workshops, they introduce
audiences young and old to the power of spoken word poetry and the
possibilities of self-expression.
Sarah Kay is a poet
from New York City who is perhaps best known for her talk at the 2011 TED
conference, which has been viewed over eight million times online. She is the
author of three books of poetry: No
Matter the Wreckage (Write Bloody, 2014), B (Hachette Books,
2015), and The
Type (Hachette Books, 2016).
Phil Kaye is a
California-born poet who has performed his original work in fifteen
countries. His work has been viewed millions of times online and featured in
settings ranging from NPR to Upworthy.com. Phil is a former teacher of weekly
workshops in maximum security prisons and head coordinator of SPACE, a prison
arts program.
