Entries are open now!
Whitirieia's
popular, student-run literary competition is back. This year it's open to all
of NZ, and has a new theme.
There are several
cash prizes - and winners will be decided by online vote. As ever, we hope new
and established writers will rub shoulders.
How to enter:
Write a piece of flash
fiction - exactly 111 words long - themed around one of these categories:
'Fire; 'Police' or 'Ambulance'. (You may be abstract or literal, but the
connection should be clear.)
Nine semi-finalists will be
chosen in each of those three categories, and published online for public
voting.
Votes will determine two
runners-up and one winner in each category.
The winners and runners-up
will then be re-published online for one last round of public voting to find
the overall 111 Emergency Words winner.
Deadline: 31 May
Minimum prizes:
Each category winner - $60
Each category runner-up - $40
Overall winner - $80 on top
of previous prize
Spot prizes may also be
awarded.
