CHRISTCHURCH - A PORTRAIT OF YESTERDAYS - KEEPS ROLLING OUT THE DOOR

Publisher Graham Stewart reports:

Interesting feedback from the consumer coal face… we printed 5000 copies of this little book (96 pages) last year, rather cheeky for a boutique publishing house – and although the warehouse was bare by Christmas, we were reluctant to do a reprint as the market on Christchurch had by then become a new industry!
After getting booked-up orders for 800 plus copies by the end of February, we went ahead with a reprint which was released in May as the demand seems to be still out there. Half of this reprint edition has already gone out the door.
The book has had nil publicity, proving the old publishing theory that book buyers are often drawn into a shop having read a puff on a similar book and then make a decision once in the shop.
According to feedback, the public now want books showing Christchurch as it was in days of old… not books full of broken mortar and bricks it seems.
