I found this gorgeous book at UBS Canterbury and knew immediately I had to add it to my collection of special cookery books. Published by Hardie Grant Books, one of Australia's major cookery book publishers, it is a bargain at NZ$30. I have to confess to not having heard of Heidi Swanson before but she is a rising star on the culinary scene.
Her approach to cooking whole, natural foods has earned her a global readership. From her northern California kitchen, she introduced us to a less-processed world of cooking and eating through her award-winning blog, 101 Cookbooks, (do check this out), and in her earlier James Beard Award–nominated cookbook, Super Natural Cooking, she teaches how to expand our pantries and integrate nutrient-rich superfoods into our diets.
This new book is gorgeously illustrated with over 100 photos that showcase the engaging rhythms of Swanson’s culinary life and travels, and reveals the beauty of uncomplicated vegetarian food prepared well and reflects a realistic yet gourmet approach to a healthy and sophisticated natural foods lifestyle. I have made two dishes already and both were well received. And looked great too!
And I should mention that Heidi (right) is also a fabulous photographer and shot all the stunning pics for this book herself.
