OUP pays tribute to Trollope

Oxford University Press (OUP) is republishing Anthony Trollope’s Barchester Chronicles series (each priced £6.99) and An Autobiography (£9.99) in October, ahead of the bicentenary of the author’s birth in April 2015.

Judith Luna, senior commissioning editor at OUP, said: “With the prospect of Trollope’s bicentenary in view, it seemed logical to produce new editions in time for the anniversary, and a good opportunity to update and revise An Autobiography to make an attractive Trollope set.”

OUP is reprinting the initial 1883 edition of An Autobiography, and the 1878–79 editions of the Barchester novels. Trollope was the only major Victorian novelist to write an autobiography, which Luna described as “a classic study of the working life of a professional writer, [it is] famous for Trollope’s apparently materialistic approach to novel-writing, as he provides details of his writing schedule and accounts.”
