HUIA SHORT STORIES 7 - Contemporary Maori Fiction Huia $35

This collection of short stories and novel extracts follows the 2007 Pikihuia Awards for Maori Writers. The biennial awards and their subsequent publications have become well-known and much-anticipated as they bring more undiscovered gems to the attention of the New Zealand public. This year’s awards were judged by James George, Barry Barclay, Kelly Ana Morey and Wena Harawira.

Stunning cover image by Sandy Adsett, Manawa.
What a great thing Huia achieve with this annual collection, giving voice to Maori, young & old, published and unpublished. The stories make great reading and cover a wide range of themes from drink spiking, trips to the dump, forest foraging, family relationships, love, death, betrayal and more.
