THE TIMES CHELTENHAM LITERATURE FESTIVAL

The Festival kicked off yesterday and continues until Sunday. I was interested to learn that in addition to being one of the world's largest literature festivals it is also the oldest literary event in the world. The Times are the major sponsor with Waterstone's also being heavily involved.

Festival highlights include Michael Palin talking about his new book, New Europe (Weidenfeld & Nicolson), and his adventures while travelling, along with fiction authors Michael Ondaatje and Yann Martel.

Lucy Hawking will be with her father Stephen Hawking to discuss their new children's book, George's Secret Key to the Universe (Doubleday hardcover).

The Festival also incorporates The Book It! Children's Festival.

Full details on the Festival website.
