MAN BOOKER PRIZE NEWS

I am loving these London newspapers but have to confine myself to three otherwise my whole day would disappear. So each morning I walk to the local newsagency and buy The Independent, The Times & The Guardian.

Today they all, as you would expect, full of the news of Doris Lessing's Nobel Prize victory. But tucked away in Boyd Tonkin's Friday column, A Week in Books, is the interesting note that On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan has been responsible for 90% of all sales of the Man Booker shortlist.

Among the books reviewed in The Independent today is one that is getting a great deal of attention here in the UK, THE GUM THIEF by Douglas Coupland , Bloomsbury.
