Save the Date!
The BCBF 2018 event programme is packed
as every year with something for everyone present at the fair.
Among the many initiatives here are some highlights:
- The first conference of independent European
children's bookshops:
organised by BCBF, in collaboration with ALIR - the Association of
Italian Independent Children’s Bookstores, the conference will be a
place for an exchange aimed at sharing the challenges and good practices
that characterize the work of independent booksellers today. The event
will take place on Thursday 29 March, from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. We
will soon publish the programme and application form to attend.
- The conference "Children's Books on Art,
Architecture & Design":
organized in conjunction with the BolognaRagazzi Award 2018 special
category, will be held on Tuesday 27th March, from 10 a.m. to 1
p.m. The meeting, coordinated by Charles Kim (USA), will bring together
leading figures from publishing and illustration such as Allyn Johnston
(USA), Page Tsou (Taiwan), Didier Cornille (France) and Steven
Guarnaccia (USA).
- “Celebrating the 65th Anniversary of THE NEW YORK
TIMES BEST ILLUSTRATED CHILDREN' S BOOKS OF THE YEAR”: the initiative will be organized in collaboration
with the New York Times. Leonard Marcus, one of the most
important scholars of children's literature, will open the event with an
introductory speech on illustrated children’s books. Two round table
discussions will follow: one dedicated to Editors and Art Directors,
moderated by Steven Guarnaccia, and the other to illustrators,
coordinated by Maria Russo, Children's Books Editor of the New York
Times, with the presence of numerous international personalities
such as Beatrice Alemagna, Suzy Lee, Laura Carlin, Paul Zelinsky, Sydney
Smith. The event will take place on Tuesday 27th March from
2:30 to 5.30 p.m.
