Harry Potter Book Night for 2015 & other book news - The Bookseller

Bloomsbury will encourage schools, bookshops and libraries to take part in the first Harry Potter Book Night, which will be held on 5th February 2015.
“Following some in-depth market research, we decided a moment in the book calendar year to celebrate Harry would reawaken the excitement of the midnight openings which were such a mark of the original publications,” said Emma
Hopkin, m.d. at Bloomsbury Children’s Books.

“It will remind the fans about Harry Potter, and also be a good opportunity to introduce the books to new readers.”

HarperCollins has claimed the highest ever number of shortlist nominations in the four years of The Bookseller’s FutureBook Innovation Awards. HC has nine nods across the nine categories in the book trade’s premier digital awards, including three in the Best Use of Digital in a Marketing Campaign, for its HarperCollins Virtual Romance Festival, launching the #BookaDayUK Twitter hashtag, and the promotion of Sophie Hannah’s Monogram Murders.

Hachette UK is beta testing its own author and agent portal, and will launch it "fairly soon", group communications director Clare Harington has told The Bookseller.
The news comes as Hachette Book Group in the US announced the launch of its own portal within hachettebookgroup.biz, the company’s business platform.
