The Frankfurt Book Fair ran from October 8 to 12, wrapping up on Sunday, and while professional attendance appears to have dipped (exact figures were not available at press time), there was a noticeable increase in the enthusiasm of attendees.

Estimated 270,000 visit Frankfurt Book Fair

Visitor numbers at the 2014 Frankfurt Book Fair have been estimated at "around 270,000".
Speaking at the close of the five-day fair, director Juergen Boos said organisers expected visitor numbers to add up to around that total, which would represent a slight dip on 2013. In 2013 the total stood at 275,342 visitors, which was a drop of 2% from 2012, when 281,753 people attended the fair.
Boos said: “Book publishers are expanding the scope of their opportunities to the maximum. They are experimenting with content and technologies, and that spirit of invention pervades the Book Fair."
