MERCILESS GODS
Christos Tsiolkas
Allen & Unwin - $39.99
Note publication 27 October
Love, sex, death, family,
friendship, betrayal, tenderness, sacrifice and revelation are just some of the
themes Tsiolkas explores as he takes his readers deep into worlds both strange
and familiar, with characters that never let go.
A character faces racism in
the Australian desert.
A son honours his dying
father in a way both shocking and tender.
The mother of a dead porn
star goes to the US to find out more about the son she never really knew.
And Tsiolkas writes in
Greek for the first time in ‘Petals’, a story that he has translated himself
into English.
Written over the last twenty years, these fifteen stories,
many of them previously unpublished, are a
showcase of Tsiolkas’ immense and unique story-telling talents.
