Letter from London - special NZ issue of UK literary magazine

Dear Graham,

My name is Paul Ewen and I am writing to you from Five Dials, one of the UK's leading literary magazines. Five Dials is an online magazine produced by Hamish Hamilton, an imprint of Penguin. We have around 15,000 regular subscribers, and our free issues are sometimes downloaded by up to 200,000 people. Our contributors include Nobel Prize winners, and also Harry Shearer, who provides the voice of Mr. Burns on The Simpsons. Everyone from Noam Chomsky to Arcade Fire.

I am writing to you because on June 1st this year we will be launching a very special New Zealand edition of the magazine. This will feature a range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry from a very diverse range of New Zealand writers. The issue will also feature artworks from Shane Cotton and Francis Upritchard, and correspondence between Janet Frame and Charles Brasch.

The launch of the issue is taking place in London as part of the Australia & NZ Literary & Arts Festival, and speakers at our event include C.K Stead, Stella Duffy, Paula Morris and Micah Ferris. The compere for the event will be Simon Prosser, Editorial Director for Hamish Hamilton.

I would be very grateful if you could possibly promote the forthcoming issue on your blog. It is free to subscribe to Five Dials, and our previous 31 issues are currently available to read online. I'm attaching a logo image, and would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

All the best,

Paul Ewen.
