ABOUT the author:
Barbara Todd is internationally
renowned for her work as a writer, teacher and conservationist. In 1987, Barbara and her partner Roger
Sutherland started Nature Watch Charters, the first eco-tourism whale-watching venture in
New Zealand. They worked closely with New Zealand’s Department of Conservation
and other scientists to share data and images of Kaikoura’s whales and
dolphins. Todd has studied Orca in the Pacific Northwest, Humpbacks in
the Caribbean and Tonga, Sperm whales in New Zealand, and Southern Right whales
in the sub-Antarctic Auckland and Campbell islands. Her expertise has led to
her appearance on documentaries such as National Geographic’s Divine Dolphins.
