The 'must-see' September sale includes a wide range of rare and affordable books, maps, prints, photography, postcards and ephemera. It features a second selection of geology and natural history titles from the collection of Alan Mason, rubgy books and other materials from the collection of Des Johnson, and over ten thousand postcards from New Zealand and abroad.
Highlights of the sale include: a very rare first edition of Buller's Birds of New Zealand, 1873 (see right); an elaborately bound collection of watercolours and pencil sketches by legendary folk artist Jane Brenkley; a set of the Rugby Almanack of New Zealand ; a New Zealand or Maori War Medal; a handwritten note from Ernest Shackleton to A S Collins; and a handwritten letter from Ernest Rutherford to W H Smith.
The sale will be on view from Friday 23 to Tuesday 27 September.
