This year's Book Council Lecture will be given by beloved children's author Joy Cowley at Te Marae, Te Papa on October 4.

In her warm and engaging talk The Power of Story, Joy will draw on a lifetime’s experience of inspiring children to read.

The lecture will also appear on the Book Council website after the event.

"We are honoured that Joy will deliver her messages in person, but also that we’re able to produce a publication of her extended essay that will be enjoyed widely for years to come," says Book Council CEO Jo Cribb.
