Kate Humble, the BBC presenter, was told by her publisher that she was “not pretty enough” to appear on the front cover of her new book.
The former Springwatch host said neither she nor her Welsh sheepdog, Teg, were considered appealing enough to “flog” the book, on the partnership between humans and dogs. The cover spot was instead taken by a Labrador.
Speaking at the Hay Festival, sponsored by the Telegraph, Humble complained about a “risk assessment” culture stopping children going outdoors, and called on parents to let children “bash themselves about”.
