New Zealand Festival - Must-read books from our resident expert

What Kathryn read this summer - a reader's reader reveals

As the returning New Zealand Festival Writers Week programme manager, Kathryn Carmody reads A LOT of books.  So we checked in with her to find out what we should be reading right now. She suggests poetry lovers check out Wonky Optics, a soon to be released collection by local writer and Arts Laureate Jeff Cochrane - watch this short reading from his previous collection. Non-fiction fans might also enjoy Atul Gawande's Being Mortal, or for fiction try The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber which left Kathryn with a "tugging at a knot of rope, searching for more" feeling.
And while she's not about to reveal any secrets just yet, we know Kathryn is weaving together another exciting Writers Week in 2016.
