The BBC is to change the ending of J K Rowling's The Casual Vacancy, saying viewers will disengage if it is 'grim, grim, grim'

It became an instant bestseller, took five years to write, and was one of the most hotly-anticipated books of recent times as JK Rowling made her first foray into adult novels.
But it appears the original ending to The Casual Vacancy has not passed muster under the high standards of television.
The BBC has changed the final scenes of the novel, it has been disclosed, after screenwriters found it was too “grim” for Sunday night television.
