A Valentine's Day Treat
Saturday
14th February 10am–4pm
The County Hall, Durham, DH1 5UL
It is 10 years since the PBFA Durham Book Fair took up residence in County Hall which has proved to be an excellent and popular venue with free parking, close proximity to the Railway Station and regular buses to the city centre.
Highlights this year include a rare print dated 1830 of a suspension bridge over the River Tees at Stockton as an extension to the Darlington-Stockton Railway. Unfortunately it didn't survive for long as an engine and its cargo proved too heavy for it. There is also a playbill for Hamlet, played by John Kemble, at the Theatre-Royal in Newcastle dated 1791. The theatre opened in 1788 and the Royal Shakespeare Company still visit the theatre annually.
