The Tingling Catch blog has just posted a tribute to NZ haiku poet Cyril Childs (1941-2012) who died in January this year.
Childs was a promising cricketer for
Otago U20s, Otago U23s and Southland in the early 1960s and has his own player
page at the Cricket
Archive in England with match details:
And from the New Zealand Poetry Society
http://www.poetrysociety.org.nz/haikushowcase/cyrilchilds
On this page is a sampling of his haiku, as
well as a link to the tributes that were received as news of his death spread
through the haiku community both nationally and internationally.
He was a good man and is much missed.
At the time of his death his biography of his
uncle (also Cyril Childs, a veteran of the Crete campaign) was under contract
with a publisher and his son, Norris, and daughter, Lia, are seeing it through
for him.
