National Geographic Books is getting into the eBook business with a new line of eBook shorts that launches this week.
The shorts will range in length from 5,000-15,000 words and will include both images and articles.
The first title in the collection is called Titanic: Uncovering the Secrets of the World’s Greatest Shipwreck and is based on the story of the historic shipwreck. Authored by Mike Sweeney, who also wrote the 2004 book Return to Titanic, the short will feature exclusive interviews with descendants of the ship’s builders.
Robert Ballard, the explorer who found the shipwreck site in 1985, conducted these original interviews. The eBook will also include scientific studies surrounding the wreck.
The Titanic theme will run through the brand’s content over the next month since it is the 100th anniversary of the accident. The eBook will be supported with a cover story in National Geographic magazine’s April issue as well as two specials airing on the National Geographic Channel.
