Why this book?
The
Children’s Pond is Tina Shaw’s latest book. Her first novel
Birdie attracted my attention in 1996 and she spoke Going West the next year.
Now some half a dozen novels, a cluster of children’s books, a few anthologies
and assorted other non-fiction titles she has reached a peak of the writer’s
craft with this novel. It has been
described as ‘ dealing
with challenging themes and subject matter… with a story of the unexplained
death of a young woman and a compelling collision between the past and the
present.’
