Join the award winning author for a discussion of his new novel The Children Act
Monday 1 September, 7pm
Cadogan Hall, London SW1
Ian McEwan is one of the most celebrated British authors at work today. Join him to discuss his new novel The Children Act, which explores the conflict between science and religious conviction. His recent novels have tackled climate change (Solar) and cold war espoinage (Sweet Tooth). Inspired by real life legal cases, The Children Act centres on Fiona Mayes, a leading High Court judge who is called on to try an urgent case: 17 year old Adam who is refusing life-saving medical treatment because of his faith, with the support of his devout parents. McEwan will be in conversation with leading Guardian columnist and broadcaster Jonathan Freedland.
