The Bookman's Local Neighbourhoods in NYC

Freedom Tower - loving this and photographing it from many locations

That is our apartment building, the gorgeous one in the middle, built in 1909, designed by the same architect who designed the iconic Woolworth Building which is only a couple of blocks away..

Memorial at Battery Park for NY police officers killed in the line of duty. That is Annie in the light orange jacket.

 The marina at Battery Park
There are a dozen or so subway stations with a few hundred metres of the apartment. No other way to travel as far as I am concerned.

Entrance to the Irish Hunger Memorial

Irish Hunger memorial 2 - a tiny piece of Ireland in downtown Manhattan

Flat whites can now be found in most Parts of Manhattan

 Great sign

Another view of the Freedom Tower

And another

And another

Wow, even has a whole poetry library.

Programme at Poets House

Shared delicious designer burgers here with our grand-daughter after seeing the movie, The Campaign, an hilarious comedy film starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as two Southerners vying for a seat in Congress to represent their small district.A total send-up of politicians in general and the Republican party in particular.

Quiet street, could be London.

This is us having lunch at Balthazar, one of your NY favourites. Outside our neighbourhood, in Soho, but reproduced here for fellow foodie and fellow blogger Mark Hubbard who expressed disappointment at the lack of food pics in the previous selection!

The shrimp cocktail was perfectly matched with a glass of Chablis.
