2013, the 110th anniversary of Sargeson’s birth. The fellowship provides for
a talented published New Zealand writer to write full-time in residence at
the Sargeson Centre, adjacent to the University of Auckland, with an

Frame was the first Sargeson Fellow and among recent recipients have been Emily
Perkins, Paula Morris, Sue Orr, Julian Novitz and Charlotte Grimshaw.
Sargeson
mentored many of New Zealand’s leading writers, including Graeme Lay, seen here
speaking at this month’s open day at Frank’s house in Takapuna, the country’s
oldest literary museum.
