CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen has landed a deal with Crown Publishers to write “an immersive, definitive account of the operation that killed the world’s most wanted man, Osama bin Laden.”
No publication date has been established, but the book has the tentative title, The Manhunt. Tina Bennett at Janklow & Nesbit negotiated the deal with executive editor Rachel Klayman. Bergen (pictured, via) has written a number of books, including The Osama bin Laden I Know: An Oral History of al Qaeda’s Leader and The Longest War: The Enduring Conflict between America and Al-Qaeda.Here’s more from the release: “Drawing upon access to senior U.S. government and military officials as well as key political and intelligence figures in Pakistan and Afghanistan, Bergen will paint a multi-dimensional portrait of the hunt for bin Laden over the past decade, as well as of the recent campaign that gradually tightened the noose around him and culminated in his being killed in a firefight with United States special forces in Pakistan on Sunday.”
