RICHARD AND JUDY LAUNCH SECOND CHILDREN'S BOOK CLUB FOR HALF TERM

Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan are launching the second of their Children's Book Clubs exclusively with WHSmith, it was announced today (THURS).

The Children's Book Club is once again made up of three categories with six book titles in each: Read Together, Read Yourself and Fluent Reader, and aims to help parents choose great books which children will love.

The Children's Book Club works alongside Booktrust, an independent charity which aims to encourage people of all ages and cultures to enjoy books.

Richard said: “The release of these new titles is timed for the half term break - the perfect opportunity for parents and children to plan their summer reading.”

Rachel Russell, WHSmith Books Business Unit Director said: “The Book Clubs have been a huge success and it's great to be able to build on the successes of the first club and give children their second taste of reading and sharing opinions with friends.”

Viv Bird, Booktrust Chief Executive, said: “The range of books on offer for children can be daunting. Helping parents and carers to choose the right reads for their children – books that will entertain, engage and thrill – is a key part of what Booktrust does, and that’s why we are so happy that The Children’s Book Club is back with another great list of titles.”

Judy said: “Engaging in books at an early age is fundamental and we hope that these titles engage younger readers so they continue to enjoy reading for years to come.”

The Richard and Judy Children's Book Club titles are available in WHSmith stores across the country from 26th May on a 3 for 2 promotion on all Children’s Book Club books.

The Richard and Judy Book Club has experienced an overwhelming response from readers since it launched in Autumn 2010. Nearly 2 millions books have been sold since then, propelling debut authors to top sellers.
