News from Beatnik

Angelo Georgalli, author of The Game Chef, was on Radio NZ last week – you can check out the interview here. For those who loved the TV series, this interview covers a few of the recipes featured in the show, as well as the events leading up to the creation of the TV show. Angelo also briefly discusses the hunting aspect of being The Game Chef, and what it's like to hunt game with a bow and arrow. If you'd like to get into game cookery, check out his book, The Game Chef: Wild Recipe from the Great Outdoors here.

Another one of our authors has made it onto national telly! Jordan Rondel, aka The Caker, was featured on Cook The Books' first episode of season 2 on TVNZ. In it, she makes a gorgeous Dark Chocolate Pear & Hazelnut Cake with Ganache. For those of you who already own the cookbook, this recipe is on page 98. If you don't yet have a copy of The Caker: Wholesome Cakes, Cookies & Desserts, you can get yourself (or your resident baker) a copy here.

Toby Morris, author of Don't Puke On Your Dad and the creator of the Pencilsword is having a solo exhibition next Friday at Endemic World in Ponsonby. The exhbition, entitled "Probably Forever", will feature a whole bunch of new artwork from Toby, including prints, paintings and drawings, and is bound to be a great time! We'll be around, so come on down for a chat and to enjoy some original artwork from a local illustrator and cartoonist. For more information, check out the Facebook page here.
