Mal Peet, who won the Carnegie Medal in 2006 for his historical novel Tamar, died on March 2 2015 several months after being diagnosed with cancer.

Oh how sad. We met him and Elspeth when he was at IIML in Wellington - a fabulous couple. And such talent. What a sad waste.
