Children & the environment

The Sea and Me
by Bianca Begovich
Illustrated by Scott Pearson - Create Books - $17.50

Trees are home to many plants, animals and other organisms. Without trees, these species won’t survive. And what would happen to us if there were no trees to help create the air we breathe?
It’s easy to think that little things don’t matter.  But small actions can have huge impacts.  When we each take a little time to care, our forests and bush remain healthy for all of us to enjoy. ‘The Sea and Me’ puts children in the middle of the story, explaining that we are a part of the natural processes which make the planet work sustainably.

Comprehensive Teachers’ Resource Kit available which covers Levels 1 and 2 of The New Zealand Curriculum in the areas of Oral Language, Reading, Written Language, Visual language, Health, social Studies, Art and Technology. Free download from www.createbooks.co.nz – also available to parents
