And it seems as though the author isn't convinced when it comes to sales figures either after dismissing best-selling book Fifty Shades of Grey as an "awful book."

80-year-old Barbara revealed her true feelings toward the erotic novel in an interview with the Radio Times, labelling it "repetitive" and "unsexy."
"It's terribly badly written and not even sexy," she said.
"When the female character has her bottom smacked with a whip it's the end of the book, except her saying 'Holy cow!' in excitement."

The star also confessed that she though "hero" character Christian Grey is "every woman's worst nightmare, although he's rich."
The book, which sold over more than 70 million copies and is set to become a Hollywood blockbuster, is the first instalment in the Fifty Shades trilogy, written by El James.
It follows the sexual and romantic relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a businessman called christian Grey.

In her outspoken interview, Taylor Bradford, whose debut novel A Woman of Substance sold over 30 million copies worldwide when it was published in 1979, also said that in the real world such such success only stirs up jealousy and resentment among other females.

"Some women can be a bit devious, especially if you're successful," she said.
"They're jealous and envious, although they'd be afraid to display that with me. I'd punch them in the face."
