That's right: On this day exactly 100 years ago, the New York Public Library's historic building on 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue officially opened for borrowing. From its humble beginnings (a mere 1 MILLION items) to its current enormity (65 MILLION items and counting), the NYPL is one of the largest and most comprehensive public libraries in the world.
So, c'mon, come celebrate with us!
The Belmont Library is throwing the NYPL a birthday party, and you're invited! Join us for activities, refreshments, and the making of new memories ... all to pave the way for the NEXT 100 years!
All ages welcome.
