Tonto Books has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada, ANZ and India) to a biography of Oscar and BAFTA award-winning actor Colin Firth.
The book, COLIN FIRTH: The Man who would be King by Sandro Monetti, was acquired through agent Lorella Belli of Lorella Belli Literary Agency.
'We'd been discussing this book for a while and then another Firth biography was announced. I still think this is a major coup for a small indie and it's great to get it signed as we head to the London Book Fair. A big selling point is that Sandro has interviewed Colin several times over many years, so they have actually met and shared conversations. He also has access to friends and colleagues of Firth, meaning that it will be original and insightful. I'm really looking forward to working with Sandro on this,' said publisher Stu Wheatman.
COLIN FIRTH: The Man who would be King follows Colin's extraordinary rise to fame as one of the UK's most popular actors and also brings to light much of his life and work away from the cameras and press, revealing previously unknown material as well as sharing unseen photographs. Monetti's previous book is Mickey Rourke: Wrestling with Demons.
Sandro Monetti is a leading British showbiz journalist and author who covers Hollywood for the BBC and other major media organisations. Based in Beverly Hills he has previously been media consultant for Sky TV networks and for years was TV correspondent for the News of the World.
