The 10-strong list, announced this morning (12th April), also includes three from Irish authors, Brooklyn by Colm Toibin, Love and Summer by William Trevor (both Viking) and Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann (Bloomsbury).
After the Fire, A Still, Small Voice by Evie Wyld (Jonathan Cape), Ransom by David Malouf (Chatto) and Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey (Windmill) are also shortlisted, as are Fourth Estate titles The Vagrants by Yiyun Li and Little Bird of Heaven by Joyce Carol Oates. Michael Crummey's Galore (Doubleday Canada) completes the list.
"It's a wonderful coincidence that so shortly after Dublin being awarded UNESCO City of Literature status, three of the 10 novels on the IMPAC DUBLIN Award shortlist should be by Irish authors", said Dublin lord mayor Gerry Breen. "I wish all the shortlisted authors well."
The novels were picked from a total of 162 nominated by 166 public library systems in 126 cities worldwide. The winner will be announced on 15th June 2011.
