Terry Pratchett and Frances Hardinge longlisted for CILIP Carnegie Medal

Frances Hardinge's Costa Book of the Year Award-winning The Lie Tree competes with The Shepherd's Crown, Terry Pratchett's final Discworld novel, for the CILIP Carnegie Medal, the longlist of which was announced today. 
Also longlisted for the CILIP Carnegie Medal, the UK's oldest children's book award, are previous winners Sally Gardner, Patrick Ness and David Almond. 
Meanwhile, Children's Laureate Chris Riddell and former Children's Laureate Anthony Browne have been nominated for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal, a separate award for outstanding illustration in children's books.
