Tom’s Midnight
Garden at the Cambridge Arts Theatre
"If you
want real theatre, try this marvellous retelling of a favourite
story" ****The Times
Dear subscribers, we don't normally use this list for advertising but in
this case we thought that you might be interested in the following
production that is coming to Cambridge.
David Wood was a founder member of the group that set up the Philippa
Pearce Memorial Lecture and his acclaimed stage adaptation of Tom’s Midnight Garden is
currently being toured by Birmingham Stage Company and will be playing at
the Cambridge
Arts Theatre 22 – 26 April. David produced the
script working in close collaboration with Philippa Pearce who pronounced
herself delighted with the finished result. BSC Actor/Manager, Neal
Foster, who directed this revival said “It was a huge pleasure and a
privilege to watch the show with Philippa’s daughter Sally and very
touching to see Sally so moved when she said how much her mother would
have loved the performance. It is one of the most profound and
fascinating stories ever created and we are thrilled to be bringing the
story home to Cambridge”.

PHILIPPA
PEARCE died in 2006, but respect and affection for her writing is as
strong as ever. In her memory, a series of lectures is now underway, each
intended to celebrate excellence in writing for children and to emphasize
its continuing vital importance.
