We were almost whiplashed with the speed at which the festival has taken off this year!
The announcement of Keri Hulme's The Bone People as the inaugural Great Kiwi Classic piqued nationwide media interest following the Festival's programme launch on 18 March. The phones rang hot at Festival HQ and tickets are selling faster than ever before!
As you'd expect, headliners like Sandi Toksvig, Alice Walker, Eleanor Catton and Alexander McCall Smith are the big sellers so far.
The athletic, Nigerian/UK storyteller Inua Ellams' Midnight Run has sold out already! Don't worry though, you can see him without raising a sweat, along with Jamaican/UK's Jan Blake telling Tall Tales on Sunday May 18 11.30am in the Aotea Centre's Limelight Room. Ellams is also a judge of this year's Poetry Idol which will be held in the Lower NZI Room on Saturday May 17, 7.30pm.
There are 35,000 programme booklets in circulation, 195,000 magazine and newspaper inserts and 10,000 postcards en route to cafes and offices near you.
SO...don't delay; get your tickets soonest!
There are many ways you can buy tickets: online at www.ticketmaster.co.nz , by phone on 0800 111 999, by post to Auckland Writers Festival Bookings, Ticketmaster NZ, PO Box 106 443, Auckland 1143, or in person at the Aotea Centre box office or any authorised Ticketmaster seller.
