Beattie's Book Blog HQ August 2013 - Port Douglas, Queensland

During out wonderful week long holiday in Port Douglas, northern Queensland, I blogged each morning from Origins Coffee , they make the best coffee in town as we;ll as providing free WiFi to their customers. This pic shows me reading and enjoying my second coffee of the day after my one hour blogging session.

We had a wonderful holiday in Port Douglas; our first visit and we loved it - highlights included:

* Wonderful weather - rain free with temperatures around 19-20C overnight and 26-28C by day.

*Some superb restaurants, in particular Salsa and Nautilus which I thought were absolutely outstanding.

*Fresh scallops off the back of the boat at the marina - $14 a kg for tiger prawns, cooked on the boat.

*Two excellent bookshops - one selling new books, and coffee - Whileaway Bookshop Cafe - and the other a second-hand store - The Book Lounge. More about them anon.

Thats great.Always a tinge of worry when you recommend a place in case its no longer what it was.Its 20 months since we ate there and it was fabulous then.
