Wells Arms Leaving Bloomsbury Kids to Start Agency

June 10, 2013 - PW

Victoria Wells Arms, the founding editor of Bloomsbury Children’s Books USA, is leaving the company at the end of the month to start her own literary agency. Wells Arms Literary is expected to be up and running by September.

Wells Arms started the U.S. division of the children’s publisher in 2001 and, for the past five years, has served as editor-at-large there. At the house, her list included, among others, authors Shannon Hale (a Newbery Honoree), Nikki Grimes, Amy Krouse Rosenthal, and E.D. Baker. Speaking to the move, Cindy Loh, publisher of the Bloomsbury children’s group, said: “We are thrilled that this is not good-bye and that we will continue to work with Victoria – just in a different capacity. She is nurturing, skilled, and a passionate champion of children’s literature. One couldn’t ask for better qualities in an editor or agent.”
