We were ferreting around at The Red Barn,(a treasure trove of bric-a-brac, just north of Warkworth on the Matakana road),with Annie looking at glassware and porcelain while I was looking at books, magazines and LP's. I came across the above and decided I should add it to my collection of books of quotations and at $5 it wasn't going to break the bank.
There is no publication date given but I suspect it was published between 1930-35 as the first quotes are attributed to His Excellency The Right Honourable Lord Bledisloe, Governor General of New Zealand from 1930-1935, and his wife Her Excellency Lady Bledisloe.
The following text appears opposite the title page:
These quotations were gathered by a Special Committee of the Auckland Branch of the International Federation of University Women. The cover was arranged by A.J.C.Fisher. The proceeds accruing from the sale of "Golden Quair" are in aid of the establishment of a Research Scholarship Fund for Women Graduates.

Can anyone out there throw any more light on the provenance or background of this little gem?
By the way I looked up quair in my dictionary and find it is Scots for book.

I looked up the Auckland Public Library on-line catalogue and they have two copies of The Golden Quair… It was published in 1931 according to the catalogue and there is a copy available for borrowing. There was no other information.
Hope this helps.
