The five finalists for the 2012 Toronto Book Awards were announced on August 27:
- Dave Bidini for his biography, Writing Gordon Lightfoot: The Man, the Music, and the World in 1972
- Andrew J. Borkowski for his collection of short stories, Copernicus Avenue
- Farzana Doctor for her novel, Six Metres of Pavement
- Michele Landsberg for her collection of columns, Writing the Revolution
- Suzanne Robertson, for her collection of poetry, Paramita, Little Black
The Toronto Book Awards recognize authors who evoke the Canadian city in works
of literary and artistic merit.

2011 Toronto Book Awards winner
Rabindranath Maharaj is the recipient of the 2011 Toronto Book Award for his novel The Amazing Absorbing Boy. The announcement was made October 13, 2011 at an awards gala held at the Toronto Reference Library. View all the past winners and finalists.
